This is a great update on a classic and a great way to impress your cocktail-loving friends. This was a drink of choice when I bartended at a jazz bar in Boston.
- Orange slice, 1/4" thick
- Sugar cube
- Dash of Jack's Blend
- Dash of Angostura bitters
- 2 ounces whiskey, bourbon, or rye
- Lemon twist
- Cherry
In a rocks glass, place orange slice and then sugar cube. Dash on the Rubarama and the bitters, and crush cube into orange slice with your muddler. (Don't have a muddler? We like this black walnut one as it is sturdy and gorgeous.) Don't be afraid to get aggressive with your muddling.
Pour in whiskey and gently twist lemon peel and drop into glass. Garnish with a cherry.
Option I sprinkle the orange garnish with a little Rubarama for decoration and flavor.
